Christmas Baby Part 1

MERRY CHRISTMAS, LAUREN!  Today is Christmas!  Woo!  Last night you went to bed SUPER early (not intentionally though).  We actually had made you a bottle but by the time I had made it and warmed it up, you were already asleep in Mommy’s arms.  You continued to sleep throughout the night.  So you DEFINITELY were in bed in time for Santa to visit us.  Mommy and Daddy stayed up a bit later and then we went to sleep.  It’s true that I had to work Christmas day, but I enjoy holiday pay.  Anyway, I have a story to tell you.  Just as I was going to bed, something happened.  We’ll have to see the outcome of the story when I get home.  There’s something under our Christmas tree for you!!!!!

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the pad
Not a baby was snoring, not even your dad.
The stockings were hung on mantel with care,
In hopes that Santa would soon be there.

The Mommy was bundled up under her new duvet,
The one we had gotten at IKEA, earlier that day.
I made my way to the bedroom and quietly turned the door knob,
Got in the bed with intentions of resting a few hours until I work at my job.

When outside on the balcony there arose such a thump,
I sprang from the bed and made Mommy jump.
Away to the window I sprang like a flash,
Peered out the window looking for a crash.

The moon was bright and full, giving off much light
It helped illuminate and adjust my sight.
When I saw what I saw, I tried to hide,
For I saw a large man in red, standing outside.

He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his feet,
And his clothes bright red, clean and neat.
A bundle of toys all stuffed in a sack,
He was approaching our back door as I had a panic attack.

I grabbed my metal flashlight, with intentions of beating,
Ran into the living room as he entered, too, but with a greeting.
He smiled at me with so much glee,
As I stared at him ready to beat him up ASAP.

He showed no signs of violence, only joy,
He said to me that he give presents to every good girl and boy.
Watching his every move, he opened his sack,
He reached in and said, “There it is, in the back”.

Pulling a big box out of his bag was a toy for you,
What was in the box? I had no clue.
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
I then KNEW it was Santa and I had nothing to dread.

He placed the box under our tree, with a huge pink bow,
With the Christmas tree lights on, it gave it a nice, sparkly glow.
Once he was done, he looked around the room,
I then knew he was looking for something to consume!

I ran to the kitchen and pulled out our OREOs,
Grabbing a napkin so he didn’t get crumbs on his clothes.
I got out our fat-free milk and poured him a tall cup,
He dunked his OREOs in the milk then drank it all up.

As fast as he entered our apartment was as fast as set out,
He closed the back door behind him quietly as to not make you pout.
He jumped off the balcony wall, bouncing into his floating sleigh,
With eight flying reindeer in front, he steered them on their way.

Mommy and Daddy stood on the balcony looking to the sky,
We watched Santa and his reindeer as he waved bye-bye.
We heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight,
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good-night!”
