Airplane Baby

Tonight I was feeding rice cereal to you before you went nye-nye and we discovered something unique about you.  When feeding a child, a famous technique is “The Airplane”, used to provoke a child’s mouth to open for the “airplane coming in for a landing”. While you make airplane maneuvers with the spoon, you’ll make the airplane sound to give it the full effect.  THIS is what we found you do NOT like!

Mommy had not done “The Airplane” yet, but I tried it tonight because you’ve been a little crabby today from teething and you weren’t opening your mouth for the food.  When I made the airplane noise, you immediately opens your eyes real big, stuck out your pouty lip and began screaming and dropping tears out of your eyes.  Mommy and Daddy sat there in complete shock.  We didn’t know what had happened.  We thought outloud and I said, “I wonder if it’s the noise she’s afraid of.”  After you had calmed down, I made the airplane noise.  Just as I assumed, you don’t like the airplane noise.  Still in shock, we got out the flip camera and gave it another go to catch it on tape.  We got you to calm down, turned on the camera, made the airplane noise, and AGAIN, you began screaming and crying.  We turned the camera off and I held you to calm you down.  Several minutes pass and Mommy decides to make the airplane noise to make sure it wasn’t just Daddy’s immitation didn’t scare you.  Nope, you cried when Mommy did it too.

You are legitimately scared of the airplane noise.  To all those who encounter or feed my child, do NOT make the airplane noise.  Thank you.  😀

Love, Dad
